Over the years,
competition in the licensed trade has intensified, to such an extent that on
a weekly basis more and more outlets are either closing or being handed over
to holding companies.
After 6 to 7 years
studying this sector of the licensed trade we intensified two main types of
operation.
Both have their own
strengths and weaknesses, but both had one thing in common for the operating
company, they needed a high number of sites to maintain their head office,
and field management costs.
Having so many sites to
control, one ingredient seemed to be constantly overlooked. TIME
-
TIME to
spend on site analysing the business.
-
TIME to
spend finding out client’s needs and long term objectives.
-
TIME to
develop and promote the business.
-
TIME to
support the management and staff.
-
TIME to
network and interview for suitable management.
With this in mind we
consciously adopted a policy, that each director would personally oversee
the houses and restrict the number of houses each field manager was operating to a manageable level.
Thus giving TIME to
concentrate on the successful operation of the business.
